in the event you do not have canning or pickling salt, you can "wash" common table salt.
I use a mason jar and add salt to the jar. I don't measure. several table spoons. then add hot water about 3/4 to top. cap and shake several times in a few minutes. let stand overnight. next day you'll see the contaminates settled to the bottom that "cloud" water. Be Conservative and pour off the clear salty water. go slow and don't get greedy. you can make more if need be.
