Re-Chroming a Rocket

I was most fortunate recently to purchase a Crestworth Rocket lava lamp at an astonishingly low price. The only slight drawback was that the chrome was very flaky. I just sanded it down but does anyone know what is required to restore this Rocket beauty to its former glory?

Any help would be most gratefully received.

now tell them how much it costs for chrome....i had some bicycle handle bars done and it was 50.00 and that was kinda cheap.........
