I'm guessing a lot of you folks are checking the thrift stores, flea markets, yard sales etc. for lava lamps. sometimes I get lucky. Tell me about your favorite finds.
in the last week or so I've been looking for anything wild. I found an infinity mirror light in a hard to reach/see area of a good thrift store in amish country. The bulbs were burned out, and I found some 7v mini bulbs today. It looks great, maybe from the 60s-80s.
and yesterday I met someone from the letgo app. and picked up a lava (the left one) for 15 delivered. Oh Yeah and that mirror light was only $2.50 and the bulbs were two bucks.

Sweet deals.
You're on the right track with your lava hunting, don't forget craigslist and facebook marketplace. Most of my lamps have been second hand including 3 Grande's, one of which was only 20 dollars.
Nice scores!
I've been looking for one of the Infinity Mirrors for ages, but they may not have come over to the UK
Still, there are consolations over here... Crestworth kit easier to find... though good finds are getting scarcer...
(btw - nice avatar, too)

thanks. the mushroom light was also of course a garage sale score. I snagged it for under a buck. I think it's called cluster plastic?
Friend of mine picked up a Crestworth Rocket (1993) at a car boot sale recently for £5. They are still out there somewhere. I on the other hand have drawn a complete blank over here in Ontario, Canada. Old lavas are so scarse here. Even new ones are very limited stock.
I'm usually asking if they have any lavas. either garage sales, and if I see someone stocking shelves at goodwill. I asked one lady and she said no. but next thing I know she has a globeless light. paid two or three bucks for the base and top.

I found three LL Midnight bases, three 32oz American made bottles and the base to a Fantasia glitter lamp all for $20 Canadian. Antique/flea market. Pretty good deal I think.
I used to use letgo all the time and found great stuff, but lately and for quite some time, the pickings have been slim.
My $20 (Canadian) deal not quite as good as originally hoped for. Cost me another $120 to ship (and I mean by Ship!) the lot back to the UK.

I thought I would never find a grande that was in my price range, but it happened a couple weeks ago. searching craigslist I found 4 lamps for sale from one guy. one grande silver base, purple liquid and yellow lava it flows perfect, not one scratch or ding and the liquid is perfectly clear. If I was to pick which grande I liked best, it was the one I found! I love how the yellow lava looks orange/dark orange when flowing. paid 20 bucks!! he also had three glitter wizards. purple, pink, and red. all three have star/moon holes on the bases but only two have the holes in the tops, the other top is a bit shorter with no holes. 10 bucks per lamp for the wizards, all were in real good shape, I think I saw a small dent on one of the bases. until now I though glitter lamps were kind of lame, but I don't feel that way anymore. I didn't realize they start flowing almost immediately.
I'm charging my phone and will post some pics in a bit

great deal
occasionally i find things on Craiglist
LetItGo is a waste of time, al I find is used woman's clothes, outdated electronic items and broken down farm tools and scrap i wouldn't pick out of a garbage can
Facebook market place has worked out best for Lava Items-provided they will ship
my pictures doesn't do these lamps justice
not sure why the purple one takes longer to get going and it's not as vigorous as the other two, maybe the bulb is old or the smaller watt bulb sucks
red is next
and finally pink
the person that sold them to me was telling me that the cheaper 20 watt appliance bulbs work fine in these glitter lights rather than the 40 watt they call for. I really didn't look to see if that's what they have. will I get better results if I use the 40watt? red and pink seem fine, purple is a bit slow
I could of swore what led me to this site was trying to find when my lava lites were made, I thought this site had a bunch of info explaining the different models and what the numbers mean to find the age. if it's on this site, I can't find it. can someone link it up for me. I can't find it on the net for the life of me.

I had a little luck with letgo last summer, but there was a few more on there that I couldn't get them to answer me, so I gave up and I hardly see anything good anymore. I think you're right about the facebook thing, that might be drying up letgo. I don't facebook though.
I was trying to pick up another craigslist lava when I picked up the above 4, but the guy was not where he said he would be and I didn't want to be late for the grande exchange.
