Oozing Goo - The Lava Lamp Syndicate

Hi everyone I am new at owning a lava lamp. I was recently given a lava lite lava lamp. Its supposed to be black in clear liquid, but its not too clear, its semi cloudy. Does anyone now how to make it clear up without opening it and running it in a filter? this is the second time i turn it on but not much has change it still a bit cloudy.

Do you know how old the lava lamp is? Unfortunately, if it's a newer lamp, it may never clear up. If you tell us what's on the bottlecap, numbers-wise, we can help you out.

About the only way to clear up a permanently cloudy lamp is to filter it with an MSR filter. They can be found on amazon.com or eBay.com.

Hi Erin, which MSR filter is the best for filtering? As there seem to be a few different style designs of these filters, would this be OK for doing the job of filtering.

Hi Bill - yea that looks like it would do the job.

Filter wize any water filter which is desinged to filter and purfie water for drinking will do the job, a MSR filter is the make of the filter which is made by MSR so you dont nessarly need to by a filter made by MSR.

Its a new lava lamp so I guess its the bad ones the company is putting out now. Here are some pic of it on. thanks for the help everyone

Honestly it is a 20 oz china lamp, and filtering it wouldn't be worth the time. You are in the UK, so get a Mathmos lamp cheap on eBay. It flows better and should be clear.
Yeah i think i am just gonna return it to the store.
That's my vote!
