CAn anybody give me help?
Value is completely subjective on something like this - bottom line, if you like it and feel the price was "right", then you got a bargain. On its own though, this is not one of the more valuable rain lamps. Vintage rain lamps can fetch a tidy sum of money, but this one is hardly vintage. The newer rain lamps that seem to fetch decent money are the black light reactive ones. Even there though, its still subjective. In terms of my own black light rain lamp, opinions were split. Some despise it and likely wouldn't pay $5. Others thought it was over the top cool (like me).
To clean it, dump all the old oil and then clean the residue so that it is essentially new (and dry) once again. Make sure you gentle wipe down the lines too. Make sure you refill with the right oil - you can get rain lamp specific oil on eBay. With the lamp off, pour oil into the channel in the base where the lines go into the base. The oil should just start backing up into the channel when its filled to the right level.
I agree with Critter and Jim, Sam. Like Jim, if you like that lamp, and are happy with the price you paid, it was a deal. As Critter said, I am really liking that one too, it's much different from all the others, and I'm not into those rain lamps usually. Yours is cool. Just follow Jim's instructions and fix it, and you'll be good to go!

You got a good price. By the way, not that I am in to these things at all, but that is one funky rain lamp! I have never seen one that was not some cheesy gold color with a Venus statue or similar. Kinda diggin' this one!
Enjoy it!
OKay good to know and how can i fix it if i run into problems running it
Sam, just do exactly what Jim told you to do first. It might work fine just cleaning it up and putting the oil in it like he said. Just be sure to buy that oil Jim told you about on ebay. It is made just for rain lamps.
OH and sorry about the dirty dishes we cleaned the afterwards and the lamp will be cleaned soon. I got a watermelon 52 oz. Lamp at Spencer's last night i made a new discussion on it
No worries about a few dirty dishes, Sam, and Congrats on your new 52 oz. neon watermelon!! I bet it's beautiful. I'll look at your discussion about it.
IT really is and my purple\\pink i got is also 52 oz. And the water is blacklight reactive and luckily the globes are super clear
These sold new for somewhere in the $30 range. If you like it, it's worth it. What is the matter with it? Just gunky?
You don't need "rain lamp oil." Mineral oil, sold in drugstores, is the exact same stuff.
OKay i will look for that and could be the light isn't turning on though it's not burnt out just need to see how it looks inside after opening it up
