Oozing Goo - The Lava Lamp Syndicate

Strange development in my recently acquired 1995 lamp...

Workd great for just over a week, more rapid flow than any of my china ones. While working late last night it seemed to settle into the "overheat" mode and just sit at he bottom. I always turn it off before I leave work, but i guess it was the latest its ever been on.

Fast forward to 12 hours of cooldown later, I turn it on it flows for awhile, but then for the last half hour it has been frozen in this position (see attached). Its been on less than three hours.

What''s strange is that the lamp hasn't been moved at all, the temp is about the same as yesterday.

Right before I got it, the lady who sold it to me saud she had just gotten a new bulb..its 40 watt.

So...what gives?
