Has anyone tried to strip the color from a colored lava lite globe?

Yes - I used a razor blade to scrape two glitter grandes that were both new from their custom line.  I just hated the color combo when they arrived.  Just not very exciting and they look way better clear with silver glitter since I scraped off the color.  I posted photos.  Someone else suggested that I could have used paint stripper but it's not cheap and it only took about an hour to scrape all the color off so it was unnecessary and I hate working with hard core chemicals that reek up the entire property.  It was also much safer.  Either way both ideas work.

Yeah a paint thinner was my idea. I have a rainbow grande that I've never been happy with. I'm just nervous to start scrapping it. I don't want to crack it. I later realized I paid way to much for it... Impulse buy.

Thanks for your help!

acetone and steel wool worked fine

Just use adequate ventelation

Thanks Claude!

your welcome

Did it a few times

Paint stripper has had good reviews too

Thanks Mile High!

I have done this many times on several different size bottles, A brillo pad works the charm each time. Takes only a few minutes.
