Oozing Goo - The Lava Lamp Syndicate

I managed to import a Grande from Amazon US that thankfully arrived intact today (even though it was in its torn up box, with no outer protective box at all), but I am now realizing one key thing I had forgotten to look up: If there is a suitable bulb for this lamp for 230V outlets.

The EU banned a lot of traditional high wattage lamps, which makes things a bit more complicated. Does anyone here happen to have a Grande running in Europe, and if so, what lighting solution have you found to work?

Currently, I'm considering whether PAR20 halogens on a dimmer would work alright for the Grande, but I can't ascertain whether they put out the heat too concentrated to the middle of the globe's bottom surface, which might cause hot spots and flow problems.

Any advice is much appreciated!

Hi I sell UK Grande Light bulbs on ebay UK,, seller name  ... lavafamily. Thanks

I found your advertisement, but it looks like these are R80 size bulbs, is that correct? The problem is that the newer Grandes have the socket positioned higher up in the base, and use a rather non-standard R63 bulb. Seems only Schylling is selling a 100W bulb in that size, and of course only rated for 120V. An R80 doesn't fit these, so I'm afraid these won't either.
