Surf with Lava Lite Goo

Has anyone ever used the surf from magma tower (the goo kits for sale on ebay) and only replaced the water and left the Goo from Lava Lite?

 

I was wondering since the Goo seems to be fine but the problem is usually the cloudy water.

 

If you have tried did it work?  and if so did it require more or less surf than the 10ml per liter recommended with the Goo from the Kit.

What does the glycol do?  Why do you not need the Glycol with a goo kit lava?  Did you try without the Glycol and it would not work?

Where do I get Glycol?  Is that just the chemical name and the product is under a different name?
