So I bought this 20oz orange/clear lamp, right?  When it arrived, it looked like orange gravy in skim milk.  After spending a lot of time on this site, my very next purchase was a PUR water pitcher and a bottle capper.  Tonight I did my "experiment" and the PUR filtering really did make a huge difference.  Now, the lamp is not CRYSTAL clear, even after running the liquid through the pitcher twice (was that a mistake?), but the difference really is night and day. It really made my extremely crappy China globe into a little bit less crappy China lamp.   So thank you all so much for posting such wonderful information. It was really fun to do, too.
