Oozing Goo - The Lava Lamp Syndicate

I've decided to remove the info from here and just update it from the lava library. Any other additions or suggestions that should be added to the tutorial please post here.

8/1/11 - I've just added the surfactant amounts for the globes sizes.

8/4/11 - Just updated the color mixing step

Experimenting with goo kits would get very expensive very quickly it seems, especially with the prices they charge for shipping.  I've got some old lava louie goo I might try to add a sharpie to though.

I think you can get a Goo kit for a total of $60 on Ebay. They say they supply 1 qt. of goo, enough for a 250oz lamp or multiple lamps. So I would probably do that.

thanks for taking the time to put this together! i had an awesome '98 52oz yellow wax purple liquid i got for my birthday as a kid. upon moving out of my last apartment last month i left a lot of stuff in my car, including the lamp. well it froze and some water leaked out from the top but it still worked. me being completely ignorant, i cracked the lid and dumped tap water in it!!!! was pretty sad when i found i ruined it but decided i would google the company on the lid and get a new one. became even more sad when i realized they aren't made in US anymore and read the reviews on the new ones (and this is why i collect the american ones now). but hey i am willing to get a wax kit and try to recreate it following these steps. really have nothing to lose at this point! once i have the time i'll get one of these and post a before and after if i do a good job! but i am happy to now know this is an option and that this nice looking guide is here.
