Does anyone know how to identify the wires in the UK Type 4 plug which comes on the new Mathmos Astro. We need to know the color of the hot , ground, and neutral wire. My husband will then put a plug compatible with US standards on the Lamp. I have purchased some 130 volt 40 watt Euro-base bulbs to fit the socket. We need to identify the wires so the correct ones get connected to the proper parts of the plug. Otherwise Ka-Plooey!!!!! Both my husband and the lamp. So is it that simple? Bulb to fit socket 130 volts and US plug? Thanks for some sensible replies.

Simple yet complicated question.
On most UK plugs the neutral is blue, the hot is brown (sometimes red) and the ground is a green or yellow solid or striped wire. You will not need the ground in the US, hook the neutral to the wide blade side and the hot to the small blade side and your 100% good to go. You could always just buy a adapter like this and simply plug in... http://www.amazon.com/BoxWave-Universal-American-Outlet-Adapter/dp/...
Hi LampHead,
Thanks for the input. NOW my husband says it seems easy. Anyway I don't want to use a converter 'cause the lamps (one is still on order) are for my 2 granddaughters. I think my daughter would have a fit if she saw the converter. Like there was a safety issue present. The new plug just seems smarter. BTW my husband is an electrician and he only has these "dilemmas" when he's had a few beers. Imagine that....... Once again thank you very much!
