Oozing Goo - The Lava Lamp Syndicate

I worked at a prop house that went out of biz and picked up some cool things, this being one of the coolest of all. Unfortunately only one side has glitter the other is almost empty.

Does anyone know what year this is from?

Can someone help me get the other side working?

I thought I could get some Goldschlagger booze for the flakes (and once I strained it) the rest wouldn't  go to waste :).

But that seems expensive, is it just foil?  What do I need?  Vegetable Oil & Water? I have done some reading on this site but just want to get it right the first time.

Pics below...

THANKS!

Thanks for the info. I knew it must be quite old. My "friend" got the other one with triple tiers and all fully liquefied (even though he knew I wanted it) it has two golds and a blue.

Anyway I'm not looking to buy a replacement on ebay. yikes. I thought the mixture/material must be common knowledge by now with the internet and this site and all.

I guess I could buy a modern one and open it up pour it into the old one, I see one that looks very similar. Anyone ever tried that?

Thanks again, and any more help appreciated.
Yes i like the slow flow but no flow is worse. :(

My "friend" is a dick. lol
That's what I was saying with the quotations. But I can probably get a pic next time I see it/him.
OK will try to get a pic next time. However, no one has any idea what type of liquid is inside these type of lamps? I really thought if anyone could help it would be this forum.

I was reading about the clock style glitter lamp on " trippyglitters" and it said:

"The inspiration for the use of glitter in this piece originates from a German alocholic beverage which was known as Goldwasser back then, which is clear and has gold flakes suspended within it."

So maybe I am not far off in my idea for the flakes? or maybe its just a flaky idea. lol
