Oozing Goo - The Lava Lamp Syndicate

My new Mediterranean was in rough shape when I got it. Cloudy, wax separated, and not sticking to coil. The wax is now recombined. The lamp is slightly less cloudy. I can't get this wax to stick to the coil though. I have tried the original, one from a groove tube, and one from a 20 oz. The original was cleaned and soaked in gas for 16 hours. It barely had any wax in it. The groove tube worked better. The 20 oz. has about half of the wax sticking to it. Is this wax shot because it will not stick, or is it just all bad coils?
