I purchased this Fantasia lamp from the online goodwill auctions. I thought it was a Centurion. To my surprise, it was a Sunburst. Upon receiving the box, I was excited and opened it. I saw some stray fibers here and there and thought ok, it happens. However after removing the lamp from the box, I saw chunks of the spray in the box and knew at that point, it was not good. I did not know this as I removed the lamp so lots of wonderful glass pieces wound up all over the floor. Took me a good hour to clean it up. In the box were the remains of the spray. A beautiful Sunburst spray trashed because of poor packing. The lamp was thrown in the box, literally - and some bubble wrap stuffed in for good measure. The spray was in a plastic grocery bag and was under the lamp.

Suffice to say, I was really pissed. Mainly for the fact that nobody took the time to pack this correctly and they destroyed something that can not be replaced. I sent off an email to them letting them know the issue and told them that I would be doing a charge back for the payment unless I hear otherwise. I don't appreciate something like this. It takes 5-10 minutes to pack something like this up - PROPERLY. So, I now have a lamp that is pretty much useless.

I have another lamp coming in from eBay. If god exists, god help them if they do a shit job.

Interesting... What did he do for Fantasia? The guy I spoke with just worked on the glitter lamps, I don't know how long he was with the firm. But he claimed that Vicon still had a bunch of old parts for older chrome sphere lamps, Trophy model, etc. that they refused, for some reason, to use to make new ones in those styles. I wonder now whether the black Sunbursts are sanded-and-painted chrome ones? As far as I know, they made only the Saturn, Love Bug, Sunburst and Alpha under Vicon, and the Saturn and Alpha may have been Vicon-only designs.
According to the guy I am conversing with, he was there from the start of Fantasia Products to when it was sold off to Vicon. There were a couple other lamps I never heard of mentioned by him. They were the Comet and the Fireball. He also mentioned the Cosmos lamp and the packaging issues they had to overcome with such an odd ball lamp. They packed one up and dropped it off a balcony and when it did not break, they knew they had it right. Lol.

The black Sunburst lamps appear to be new materials. Some I have seen, contain older parts similar to the chrome Sunburst lamps. Then there are some that are much newer. I believe you are correct about the Vicon only designs. Anything made in China was a Vicon lamp. From what I can see, any lamp that had a plastic color wheel - was Vicon made. Anything with a glass color wheel was PRE Vicon.
