Oozing Goo - The Lava Lamp Syndicate

So I am not a lava lamp aficionado but I do really dig them. I bought my first one recently at an antique store and it looks pretty rough. I attached a link to a photo of it below. For some reason it won't let me attach the picture directly. What is the deal with all the bubbles within the wax? and the water is a little cloudy. It seem to have things floating in it (that aren't supposed to be there haha). Any ideas? Can I fix it?

you can load pictures from the computer by clicking the link shown below

You can try to wrap a towel around it while you run it so it overheats,

that might pop the bubbles

If not, it will require a Re Goo

There is a point nin its life where the wax just gets worn out and separates
