Oozing Goo - The Lava Lamp Syndicate

Hi everyone

This has proabbly been addressed time and again and I've had a look through the forums but I can find what I'm looking for. From what I understand the yellowing of Mathmos' white wax is nothing new. The reason they stopped doing it the person on the phone there told me, however I'm desperate to restore my Opal Fluidium to bright white.

If I'm honest, apart from the yellowing the current wax doesn't look too bad and even though the water is clear I do get occasional "bubbling" which I'd prefer to eliminate. This has lead me to the conclusion that replacing it all might be the
best idea.

Looking at the gallery it seems to be possible. Critter's Lunar XXL in white looks absolutely stunning and there are a number examples of other fluidiums that are still bright white. Maybe they're not used very often and that may account for the clarity but damn I'm jealous.

I've been in touch with gookits and they tell me that their goo starts out white but yellows quite quickly. Are there any alternatives and tips people might have?

Thanks in advance.

Carl.

White wax is going to yellow some with use I don't think there is much way around that. Short of replacing the wax I would try this.

Put the bottle in bright sunlight for some time and just see what happens. It cannot fade your bottle fluid as it is clear and it might help with the wax dingyness. This could not hurt and I, among others would be interested to see if this works too.

Beyond that you will need new wax. Goo Kit wax would work but it too yellows with time in my experience.
