Hum, I'll think about it and let you know. It is very nice.
  • Chow

I bet it is very nice.
  • LavaMeister

I was wondering if anybody noticed that the goo kits have substituted green dye for the red dye? Hard to make custom colors without the primary red, yellow, blue combo. The red has to be bought separately.

Also, has anybody ever used coloring in the water with these kits? Magma Towers is telling me they have never done it and seemed surprised that I had asked the question.
  • Joe Kingsley

CAN YOU GET THIS KIT ANYWHERE OR WHAT MAN ????????
  • Joe Kingsley

I cannot get a kit nothing shows up is the website down please help.

  • Jethro

I have three Grande LED glitter lamps...the regular goo will not heat with LEDs, but glitter works!
  • Kelly Flaskerud

Hey, what's up withe the gookits site?? Is the site just down or are there no more kits to be had?

  • Jeff

I'm gonna get a goo kit from ebay, but that $20 for shipping really pisses me off.
  • Jeff

Is 40 euros to ship to Germany a lot? I'm guessing it is since it's a long way to Germany.
My Grandparents were from Bremen btw (Not that anyone cares... just thought I'd share). :O)
  • Don Souliere

WOW, thats amazing, I never even thought of a black light and red bulb..

Ok now I have a few questions about the Kits. After reading all 15 pages, I picked up on a few things that i want to clarify.
I just ordered a case of 100w r20 bulbs, if I get the kits to fix my grandes I will need to get a dimmer, or get 60w bulbs because the wax will burn to the globe? it will also make the wax color fade or get darker?
When the kit comes, I must use the coils they provide?
I can see that fixing a grande looks possible but I have a few 52oz that i would eventiually want to fix, but the opening is soo small, how can this be done? Especially re-applying the caps, to both the 520z and the grande looks tuff.

Sorry for the long post, but I really want to learn how to do this the right way and have some great looking lamps like all of you got.. I am truely in awe
  • Don Souliere

    awesome, gonna order kits tomorrow
  • Don Souliere

Could I make a suggestion/ request, could the goo heads that have done the kits come together and make a tutorial as far as the amounts needed for each size of lamp, amount of dye, how much surf to use, tips and tricks.
  • Don Souliere

is it normal to lose some water after its sealed due to evap? Im gonna take a closer look and monitor it. all 3 lamps I did lost a smidge of water, maybe a lil air still in the top?
  • Bruce Halliday

    Hey guys,

I have been making lamps with wax as goo and 91% to 70% alcohol. I would like to try a goo kit, what is the liquid make up for the goo kit?

    Bruce

  • Bruce Halliday

    Hey Guy's,

Just ordered my first Goo Kit. I was making lamps using wax and alcohol mix.

They were good just not great! So I will try my hand with the Goo Kit.

Any comments on satisfaction with the kit will be welcomed :)

    Bruce

  • Don Souliere

Goo kits are the BEST, My grande with kits from left to right

grande's 3, 4, and 5 are kits the others are not

  • Bruce Halliday

    a

Brucenother question, I will be using the kit to make different sized lamps. Can I use different quantities of Goo at different times and color them separately?

  • Don Souliere

Yes I forget where there is a conversion equation somewhere around here
  • Kelly Flaskerud

Hey Jonny, when are you going to come out with a smaller version of the Magma Towers?  I want one for my house, but don't need one that's as tall as my hubby!  :)
  • Bruce Halliday

    Hey guy's,

Just made my first lamp with my new Goo Kit. I used Green for the goo color, it came out lighter than I expected. Is there any way to add more color after the lamp is finished?

    Bruce

  • Bruce Halliday

    hey guy's,

I made another lamp today with the kit. It is flowing nice but I am getting a bunch of marble sized balls at the top. the goo does not want to melt together at the top of the lamp.

any suggestions that will help are appreciated.

    Thanks

    Bruce

  • Dr. WHAT?!

Hey Bruce how much surf did you use and what size is the lamp your working with?
  • Brett Messervy

Hey people. Just wondering how you get white goo from a goo kit? do you just not colour it with dye... will it stay transparent or opake?

  • Dr. WHAT?!

The goo comes white so you would leave it. And it will stay transparent the first couple runs of the lamp but eventually turn opaque.
  • dumchidumchi

Here is my 1st GooKit globe...turns out pretty good.

  • telemann

I love the White one, I read it doesn't stay transparent though, is there any to keep it that way?

  • Tim Gill

The trandsparenty only lasts for a short time - the way to keep it this way is to only run it a fue times but that isent garanteed.

  • Woodvetch

After 3 years of daily running I  have a yellow and a red that are transparent when flowing. They're opaque when not running. These 2 Grandes were made with special goo Louie was experimenting with that he sent me to play with. They're awesome. The rest of my conversion Grandes were made with goo kits and started out transparent but turned and have stayed opaque.

The 2 below pictures were taken 2 years apart. The one with 3 lamps was winter 2010. The yellow blobs was taken tonight.

  • Tim Gill

Thoes picture look amazing - fantastic goo kit job

  • Jethro

WoW...very nice!  I'd love to make something like that with one of my Grandes.

  • Dr. WHAT?!

WOODY! where you been Miss?! Haven't seen you around in while! good to see you and your goo ;)

  • Woodvetch

Hey man what's bubblin'? I'm good. Lava's still run everyday. Love 'em as always. big changes in my world, mostly good, have kept me bz elsewhere.  When I came to oozgoo the other night I stayed for hours. I've missed goohead interactions and info. I'll be back.

    Good to hear you!

btw where is Boden (spelling?) ? The fella from Philly that made those awesome life-size torso lamps?

  • Tim Gill

Bohdan as well as a fue others have left - there were some issues with them on hear (I wont go into much more publicly) shortly before they left.

They are now on 60's lights (another lava lamp / retro forum) and have completely removed them selves from hear.

Its a shame though as Bohdan was a grate guy and he really knew his stuff.

Woodvertech it seams like you have been hear before i joined last year what's your story?

  • Woodvetch

    Hey James,
My red has stayed transparent for years now. Hope yours does the same. Looks great.

    Woodvetch

  • Dr. WHAT?!

Good job James! That looks amazing dude
  • Chow

That a really good first attempt. Good job indeed.

  • CRASHSUNDAYGUY

Hey, I took a year break from the Oozing goo site. I'm back, what happened to Magma Tower? Where do we get goo kits now ??????

  • Nancy

  • Jus

Great to see you back, CRASHSUNDAYGUY! Definitely missed your input and cool lamp inventions!

  • CRASHSUNDAYGUY

Glad to be back ! Last year I sold my house and had to down size, my large collection had to go into storage. I think it was enough of a pause to help break my obsession. I had a cone with me everywhere I went. I was sticking it in everything I thought it would fit in, which spawned some crazy lamps for sure. I spent thousands. I just began to unpack all the lamps I made and put them on E-Bay. I made some really cool lamps, it was cool to relive the time I made them. Keep an eye on E-Bay, you will see some of the ones featured here for sale. I moved into a much smaller house, I don't think I will have the space to display them anywhere in the near future, so it's time to part with them. I am keeping some of my favorite creations but I need to be real and move the bulk. I have well over 200 lamps.

Have you noticed the prices are down now on lamps now? When I was buying last year I as paying quite a bit more. I listed 15 lamps now at discount prices AND I am including free shipping and no offers yet. If I sell the ones I have listed at the price they are at now, after shipping I will be at a big loss for sure. I am closely watching these and if the market is down I will just hold onto them for awhile longer I guess.

  • Jus

Yeah, these days it's hard to get the price you want.  I'll watch on ebay.  That's likely all I can do cuz I'm broke!  Good luck though!
