Squiggles did really vary. Thick or thin lines, few or many, and everything from random designs, sometimes more smooth (left) and sometimes a bit jagged (right) to loopy patterns. These were applied by hand, so they probably varied not only from year to year but from day to day and employee to employee. Most I see tend to be thinner lines. I've seen Decorators with squiggles consisting entirely of round loops, and some have whole area (inside the tray or high on the bottom cone) where squiggles are unusually light or even absent. Nice photos showing these differences in two 1100 bases!
