I guess it's because of the way it's built and it was made to hold the weight of people dancing on it. I wouldn't have spent £2500 on it but I do love it and I love having my lava lamps on it.

Thank you for your comment :) It was my best Ebay bargain to date. The table is meant to be £2500 but I got it for the amazing price of £350. Now I just need to get a lunar to sit next to it
