You did an awesome job on that Italian model, Kirk, it looks great, and I'd love to see it flowing! Yep, I recall Justin Wilson, used to watch him many moons ago, but how did you know about getting a cravin "flung" on you? I wonder, NOT. LOL Remember I do have an "unofficially" adopted son who is a Cajun and a great artist, I have his bayou folk art paintings all over the house. I've don't even remember what bulb we use in our re-wired (by you) Anniversary Mathmos lamps, let alone an Italian lamp, good on Mark in solving that bulb problem for you. All the above are awesome my friend!
That's an Italian that I refurbished behind them, Lib.
I repainted the glass bottom red, blue, and green to original, and I replaced the liquid. I paid too much for a lamp that required fixin', but you know, I had to have it! LOL Someone, somewhere "flung a craving", I'm sure.
Recently, I put a 30W spot bulb in it (thanks to my UK friend Mark on OG) and changed out the liquid. It flows faster now, and I like it mo' better. Mo' better - that's Justin Wilson from my Baton Rouge/Cajun days!
I liked these so well, Kirk, I clicked em twice......Love the one behind them too.
my 2009 blue/blue astro used to be much lighter, but with time, it became dark like yours. it still flows great, but it became considerably darker.
Kirk, there is only one way to find out ... (aiming for xmas, hehe)
I haven't seen the older blue/blue, but I sure do like this one. It is a little darker than other color combos, but the blue liquid is definitely lighter the blue lava.
@ Critter: yes, I've seen these are heritage bottles, but thanks for the advice ;-) I have a clear/blue smart astro one that runs hot very fast with a brushed base and 40w bulb, but on a new polished base (open plastic bottom, internal ring for the bottle, 35w halogen spot) it flows well even without a dimmer. The new construction has a complete different heat circulation. I wonder how heritage bottles will work on a new polished base?
Colors look really great. My plan was to get only the bottles for my old crestworths, but know im really thinking about ordering the whole lamps. New blue/blue seems to be brighter than the old one, is this correct? Would not be that bad, cause the old is very dark imo...
