Yea, my stock bulb burned out about 5 years ago, I have had the lamp for about 10 years I think, used to run it a lot back in the day. It got shook slightly at a housewarming party and I stopped running it for a while, fired it back up one day and POOF went the bulb. Good stock bulb for sure, when it was a new lamp it ran sweet, almost full columns up but not quite enough wax. Would rip off and start dribbling various size blobs back down from the main one. I am almost tuned back to that flow with this halogen changeover

Keith i would agree i think u made the right choice but i do really like this lamp and they never really overheated i think because of the heighth of the globe on it but i know i did some damage to the lamp it used to stay on to days to weeks at times on also i put my hand on the base after it ran for about 6 hours last night the base was quite warm and if i had left my hand on it it would have burt me but not overly hot i think i was thinking of how hot the base use to be with the stock bulb in it i dont know about yours but my stock bulb just went out last year and i have had the thing for close to 6 or 7 years and with how i ran the lamp im surprised it lasted that long

While it is a cool lamp Keith, you made the right choice I believe

Looks good!  I had a chance to buy one for $15 a year ago, but the same place had the red grande that I bought for $20.

Man, you were right about translucence! I would say mine is SLIGHTLY more opaque but not by much.  Yours looks to flow pretty good.

I am still tinkering with the halogen as it helps illuminate the globe better and, at the right heat level, can aid in some nice stretchy flow. I have heard that this thing is a sealed glass cylinder and can't be opened so it may be stuck with what it has in it!

That looks pretty cool!!!  I wish I would have gotten one when they had them at Big Lot's way back when!!!!
