Thanks! Let me know how it goes. :)
liked this one a while ago, but just wanted to say that the flow looks great!
I'm going to be trying this deb!
Bridget, surprisingly yes.Still clear. I read here that alot of people's lamps clouded up eventually, so watched and waited. I've run it many times since. I went with sea salt cause it made sense that this type of salt is used in saltwater tanks and worked well for clarity. I have been tempted to add food coloring but decided against it. This lamp is one of my favorite fixes as many have tried and failed having to end up goo kitting. :)
Is the lamp still clear?
Man, I love how clear and how vivid the yellow stands out. That's a super job you did!
James, there seems to be a bazillion formulas people use to fix the cloudy. I picked the simplest method and cheapest to try. Seems to have worked for me. I'm pretty happy with the outcome. No exact formula to give you though. Kind of a trial and error sort of thing. I dumped the blue liquid out and then used my kitchen faucet sprayer and gently rinsed the inside of the globe out. Running it down the side so as not to blast the cold wax in the bottom. Refilled with distilled water leaving plenty of room for the salt water mixture. I added sea salt to a cup of warm distilled water till it wouldn't dissolve anymore. From what I read sea salt is less prone to cloud the lamp than other salts like Epsom, etc. I just kept adding a small amount every half hour or so to the globe till the wax started moving consistently. Adding too much too soon can ruin it. I used very little dish soap. Just a few drops. I was afraid to as I read too much can ruin the wax. Make it bubbly or stick to the sides of the globe. I figured if it didn't work I could always buy a goo kit. But as long as it stays clear, I saved myself a few bucks.
Can you tell me how much salt you added? I have a Black/Clear Grande that is cloudy so that it is useless. I would like to try your recipe.
Thanks.
Distilled water, dissolved sea salt and a few drops of dish soap. Most people just goo kit it but I wanted to experiment with it. I added a small amount of salt at a time. Waited half an hour.. repeat till I got the flow I want. So far so good. :)
