Oozing Goo - The Lava Lamp Syndicate

Lamp base is a Lava Lite China from Autumn's watermelon Neon (she only wanted the globe and cap). Globe is a 1984 Century - same as the cap. The contents are from Loren.

Drilled pinholes and painted - it turned out really cool! The paint is textured and has little glitter pieces in it. Subtle, but neat up close.

It doesn't have a footed base - it's just sitting on a candle holder until it properly cures. :)

NOW! What color to dye the liquid? Keeping it clear is not an option!

You sure didn't screw this one up!!   I have great confidence in your abilities.  LOL  I bet Mike does too.  :-)

Problem is, most times when I paint a lamp, I screw it up. Ask Mike about that one. :)

Erin, I said you needed to start making and selling those lamps.  Now even Mike (Blind Faith) wants it!  LOL  I'm still looking at it---love that paint job.

Isn't it gorgeous? What color should I dye it?

I did actually make a color wheel and had it on there, but it was too transparent and the colors didn't really pop. I like the idea of sky blue, too!

I, personally, wouldn't dye the liquid; I'd paint colors on the bottom with 'stained glass' paint. Pink, blue, green, yellow. If I did do color, I'd do sky blue, I think that'd go well with the textured black/glitter base for a 60s space-age look.

The paint is kinda matte, too. Not glossy. And the glitter is subtle.

I like the idea of lime green Trevor...

Anyone have any ideas on dye besides McCormick's - I'm realizing that stuff faded over time.

I thought it was funny when Erin named it that, but it is truly a very elegant looking lamp.

I know what you mean Keith. Just thought of it that way since it's such a hodge-podge of parts! :)

Beautiful lamp Erin!!  I wouldn't call it a frankenlamp though.  To me frankenlamps are additions and combinations that make a lamp look monstrous, this is definitely not monstrous. ;)
