I left some of the clear coat on. See base of globe.

Notice the multi colored glitter effect. After all the multi colored clear coat was shaved off I decided to leave some of the purple clear coat on the bottom. Reason - While I was shaving the globe I noticed that the purple coating was giving the lamp this dazzling multi colored prism look so I decided to leave the purple clear coat on the bottom and glad I did. I'm feeling seriously bedazzled at this point and loving the lamp even more. I really like the lamp now. Way more.
