I scored this at a yard sale for $5! It's my first USA midnight aristocrat! I love it. I wasn't expecting the cap to be made of plastic, and it has hooks on the inside to keep the cap perfectly upright. It's also a very thick plastic. The bottle cap is loose, and it drips out if tilted upside down. But that doesn't really matter to me. I can reseal it. I'm in love with this lamp!! Oh, and the year on it is 1998 for the globe, and 1999 for the base.

Thanks! I will definitely seal it before using it some more. Of all my lamps, the years 97-01 seem to have the best flow. It seems to be the most random, stretchy, and oozy flow. Now I just need to find a good place for it in my apartment!
Looks great! I have a purple/pink 52z of the same year with a loose cap. but I tightened it with a small pipe clamp and screw driver.
Reseal it tightly before you use it too many times. The H2O component of the liquid can evaporate from heat, and over several uses this may change the specific gravity and mess with the flow.
These were first sold only by Target, with screw-on caps. Nice lamp!
'99 Aristocrat craigslist purchase for $15 is one of my best lamps ever. Definitely one of my top 3. I could wish all of my lamps were from the same couple of years.
