This is a china 52oz that I've regooed and painted the base and cap. I'm really just starting to get into modding these lamps, and would love to do one with a "crackle" finish, but every time I experiment, I never get it right... This is really my favorite lamp at the moment.

looks great man. I used Krylon metallic gold paint and it is too brown, I didn't use any clearcoat. Next base I paint gold I will do the same way you did.
Nice paint job, there isent many gold coloured bases out there.
The clear coats really give it a nice finish.

Nice work. A lot nicer than the way I'm sure it started. Nice "emperor" style ceiling fan, too (I collect ceiling fans as well).
I used a gold metallic paint layered with a clearcoat three times. Then finished with three coats of clear to give it depth. I think it just made it look plastic... Like an import car bumper... <sigh>
