That base you're using looks like one of those scented oil burning ones. The candle -so I've read- must produce about 70-80W of heat, so the warmup times must be relatively rapid, but the light output lower compared to a normal incandescent bulb. Is that right? Is the flame in direct contact with the glass or is there a clay base of sorts?
Yeah the candle lava lamp just worked great with just a tea light! The candle heats up the glass really quick but it doesn't seem to get any hotter than a lamp. It's an easy project! You outta try it!
Wow. Does it work ok even without a tapered shape? And doesn't the candle overstress the glass? That is very cool, I want to build one like that myself :-)
