Quite a number of Lava Lites are based on Crestworth precedents: the Astro (Century), Astro Mini (Enchantress), Lantern (Lava Coach Lantern), Cosmos export model (Consort and similar), Glitterlite (Glitterlite idea and name), wall sconce (Princess, Empress), "princess" (Imperial), Wave Machine (Wave Machine), Confetti GemLamp (Glitterlite table lamps, though the French also made glitter table lamps). Lava deviated, too, though; Crestworth, AFAIK, never tried some of their oddities such as decor lamps (Mediterranean, Aladdins Lamp, Saturna), planter lamps, wooden parts (many 60s models) etc.

All I know is that it was factory produced for a short time by Lava-Simplex. I am hoping some fellow members have more info.
