Profile Information

Something Interesting About Me:
I’m a low-information (poorly informed!) lamp & light enthusiast! After a lifetime collecting random lights all over, I’m interested in putting back into commission some of the favorites. A couple that I’m wanting to rehab or replace are a Wizard lamp and a Mathmos blimp lamp, both made for US market & both from the early 00s. I’m a sky gazer & former avid scuba diver who plans to get back to it…. I think I’m constantly looking for ways to recreate the colors & bright spots of these alternate environments…. Or maybe I just crave visual stimulation & nothing rings those bells like special effects & color lights…. Looking forward to learning from the community & expanding my collection while getting a few old faves going again.
Where I Live:
USA
My First Lava Lamp was:
Mid 70s. But was hi-jacked by a sister & never seen again!
My Collection Includes this many Lava Lamps:
Only 2 right now!
My Favorite Lava Lamp is:
My Wizard lamp with star & moon cutouts in the metal cap.
Reason for joining OozingGoo:
To learn from y’all..!! And to find out how to reliably get lamps made for the UK to work in the U.S. Of particular note at present are a couple of vintage Mathmos lamps I’m buying & having shipped to Texas & will want & need to have the right power arrangements in place to attempt to make them work. I have one old cord/plug from a U.S. market Mathmos Blimp lamp that lost the red related tones from its LED RGB color changing spectrum. I’ve been told it’s possible to just plug the U.S. cord into the British lamp & it should work fine. That seems way too easy…. I’m assuming I need a power supply adaptor & possibly even a voltage modulator…?!? Does anybody have any insight on these matters…?!? God bless, best wishes, & cheers!
