Something Interesting About Me:: I'm a flower child living in a Lands End world.

My First Lava Lamp was:: My first lava lamp was given to me by my first love when I was 16. Don't know what ever happened to the guy or the lamp. I bought a lamp a couple of years ago to help relax my kids while the family was going through a trying time. Since then I've acquired 4 more - I'm an amateur by oozinggoo standards!

Then all the lamps are plugged into the splitters inside the shelf. It works great, you can't see all the wires. But I didn't do any cutting/splicing of the wiring.

At 3:46pm on March 11, 2009, Todd said…: The lamp cords can be wired together without a problem. Each lamp draws about 50W at most, and you can pigtail them together. I wired 3 lamp cords and a pigtail together (3 times), connected the three pigtails together with another pigtail (rated for 10A) and fitted with a plug. The total draw was probably 500W, and the lamps together put out some significant heat (think a hair dryer on the low setting). This setup worked fine for years until I sold it. I can understand the idea of using a big powerstrip though, either way would work. Certainly the possibility of selling the lamps separately would favor the powerstrip approach.
