My First Lava Lamp was:
it's a 1971 model gold base with holes in the sides and red wax. it still works pretty good except the fact that the wax just lays there sometimes.

I'm a bit like you only other side of the big pond. Love lava lamps and old games and toys too. Really love old movies but mainly 60's and 70's.
