It has taken me a while to warm to the Neo, but am now toying with the idea of getting one in this colour combo, but am a bit confused as to how it actually looks in person. Some photographs online…Continue

Mathmos/ Pretty Green Reboot (new colours)

Started this discussion. Last reply by doddy Nov 30, 2018. 12 Replies

I still maintain that the Pretty Green lamps are fairly underwhelming, as special editions go,  but on the plus side it does have a nice box and does bring some potentially interesting new…Continue

Just an appeal for information to anyone who currently runs a Fluidium - what type of bulb are you using? I need a bulb for mine, but the half-chromed SES 'Golf ball' type bulbs it shipped with no…Continue

lampfancy replied to perishingtardis's discussion Mathmos: White wax / clear liquid - limited run!!!
"I remember being under the impression that the fluidium had a frosted glass base when the were first launched and was a bit disappointed to discover that they were actually plastic. But yes it would be nice if they were to re-launch it with a glass…"

lampfancy replied to perishingtardis's discussion Mathmos: White wax / clear liquid - limited run!!!
"Anyone getting one? I was going to but the cynically jacked up price is a bit of a bitter pill. Also, did branded bottles win or what? There doesn't seem to be any sort of announcement - there seems to be a majority on the Facebook poll, but I…"

lampfancy replied to perishingtardis's discussion Mathmos: White wax / clear liquid - limited run!!!
"I like the etched logos, especially how they glow when the lamp is lit, like a little neon sign, would look great with the white wax. Branded is winning (on the facebook poll anyway) so far - by 73%."

lampfancy replied to perishingtardis's discussion Mathmos: White wax / clear liquid - limited run!!!
"Thanks for the lead. Interesting that Mathmos do on occasion give in to demand from collectors - makes you wonder what else we could pester them into submission for - refills for Jet/ Fluidium perhaps? I have a clear/ white from the last limited run…"

lampfancy replied to Fernando Nicotera's discussion Incandescent bulbs and the destiny of the lava lamps
"Mathmos still sell halogen Fluidum bulbs here - although personally I don't trust those halogen bulbs in a Fluidium, they are larger than the incandescent bulbs and sit very close to the 'fins' on the inside of the base, I fear they…"

lampfancy replied to James's discussion Mathmos Wall Neos (Violet/Pink)
"Was a bit confused about the violet/pink colourway as some photos online seem to make it look very pink, others purple, whereas in some it just looks red, of course the colours don't always come out accurately on camera - which would you say…"

James replied to lampfancy's discussion Mathmos Neo colour combination question (Violet/ Pink)
"So I recently got a pair of mathmos neos in the color combo you're talking about and I'm not experiencing any flow or clarity issues. The other lamps I have are american models with worse quality wax/glass anyways, so maybe it's not a…"

lampfancy replied to James's discussion Mathmos Wall Neos (Violet/Pink)
"Had been toying with the idea of getting a Neo recently, but was a bit put off by all of the negative feedback, I’m sure I have also read that the plastic coating on the bottle deteriorates/ becomes hazy over time.

How do you find the…"

lampfancy replied to James's discussion Mathmos Wall Neos (Violet/Pink)
"There seems to be a surprising lack of a general consensus about the Neo lamps, even with them having been around for a few years now. Some people rave about them, others complain they don’t flow properly, have shoddy quality and clarity…"

lampfancy replied to Fernando Nicotera's discussion What is your opinion on the Mathmos iO?
"Shame the iO wasn't designed so that the side bars could be treated as optional, and omitted if the lamp doesn't need to be fixed down, and perhaps chrome blanking caps for the screw holes in the base."

Jezza replied to lampfancy's discussion Mathmos Neo colour combination question (Violet/ Pink)
"The neo has fantastic build quality, although be careful when putting together as some of the edges are very sharp.  The bottles look like goldfish bowls with the laminated coating makes everything look bizarrely misshapen and ugly. And yes the…"
