Hi All,
I recently purchased a 52 oz red/clear Lava Lite unit at Spencers. At the advice of several members here, I returned the unit as the liquid had "white flakes" floating around when heated up. I exchanged it for the 52 oz orange/purple liquid unit.
This new lamp is quite beautiful, with awesomely clear liquid and almost transparent wax! My only issue is there seems to be some kind of residual wax (or something) on the lower inside of the globe - kind of like a "bathtub soap ring," for lack of a better description. (Please see attached photo.)
Feeling optimistic, I've been running the lamp for a few hours, several times now, hoping the residual stuff would melt or be cleaned off by the flowing blobs of wax - to no avail.
Any suggestions in fixing this problem are most appreciated!
I have to add, either I'm cursed or Lava Lite has absolutly no quality control! I'll be embarrassed to return yet another unit to Spencers but if I do, I'll request a credit to my card.
I love this H5225 unit very much and hope this problem can be remedied...

Hair drier or lighter, pick your poison, but that's how I got rid of it from mine.
Thanks for the advice, Tim. I contacted Lava Lite and emailed them the attached photo of my lamp. The customer service lady said to run the lamp 10 hours a day for 4 days in a row, and that should melt off the wax. She also said to keep her updated. I've done this for 2 days now with no change. I will do another 2 days and see what happens.

Your not cursed - Lava World (was prevsoley lava lite) has no quality control - stick to vintage USA made lamps or mathmos lamps, you wont be disapionte.
As for this lamp, yea it should 'burn off' if you leave it on for a day or so (repeate if nessary) and if that dosent work then you can open it up and brush the resude wax off with a old toothbrush or somthing simmler.

We're here to help! ;)
Thanks Erin,
I'll let the unit run a few more times and see if it helps.
I'm new to this site so I didn't know to post this as a thread.
