ok I will do it today =) I was waiting for my last lava lamp to come in the mail before I posted a pic. Love the website, you guys got so much info here. I cant wait to read it all
Got any good suggestions on shipping my double globe? I have bidders, so I know that I'm going to be having to ship this bad boy. I'm most worried about the globes. I'm experienced in shipping glass would I use my same techniques? I typically wrap first in wrapping paper then use 1-inch bubble wrap. Would this be the correct way in shipping?
Thanks for the warm welcome! I found this great double globe glitter lamp from Florence Art Co. and wanted everyone to know that I listed it on eBay. Thanks so much! Nancy
Thank you for your kind welcome. I'm interested in finding interesting (to me) styles of Lava Lamp, and stumbled upon this community. Lucky find! Actually, any similar product would do; I'm not a purist that way. Right now there are more interesting items on eBay than my budget will allow.
Alpha Centauri, what do you mean by a three in one lamp, what's that please? I bought from Gumtree for £5 a couple of weeks ago. It is beautiful and fully clear. It came with a red blub but yesterday I swapped the bulbs over from another lamp so it now has a white bulb which I prefer.
Hi and thanks for such a warm welcome :) Thanks also for all the information regards the site, I'm going to be very busy learning and reading. I will upload a profile photo later today.
My first job is to learn how to change the liquid in my astro baby bottles. I used the water and epsom salts version I found on the net and the lava flow was correct but it went cloudy again within two hours.
Thank you for such a warm welcome. I have a friend from down under that just purchased
a huge lamp and I'm gonna give him you site link. He was going to make his own and got
discouraged because of the various recipes...so he went out and bought a humongous lava lamp. Personally, I didn't know that they were made so big :). So, I started looking around
and found your delightful site...
Hello, Got hooked this week on fixing a cloudy lava lamp. Ended up doing it fully over with The Retro-Basic Formula retro272's Lava Lamp Method. Measured everything exactly as I could and it worked the first time. Its worked better than I thought it would and my vintage century 52oz is now working great with redish orange lava and a orange sunrise liquid (5 yellow 2 red food coloring) Am now looking at every auction, estate, and yard sale for some more cheap ones to fix up. I am truly addicted after a week.
G'Day, and thanks for the welcome
I have updated my profile now, as you suggested, and have been looking around to see what's here
And all I can say is WOW!!!
I'm impressed, and I can see I have a long way to go to catch up :)
And to think, I stumbled across this great site while I was trying to find out how lava lamps worked (and before you ask, no, I don't know why I had that thought that day, but maybe it was something greater than me?)
I'm looking forward to getting the time to look in detail, and then provide my own updates in due course
I KNOW what you mean! I just bought the amazing 60's candled-lit Lava Lamp (the Continental) in PERFECT condition and I just go NUTS for it! It's so incredibly beautiful...
Now, I'm looking for the Wave Machine Lava Lamp... Hard to find!
What about you? Which lamps do you own? Are you looking for one in particular? ;-)

It would be nice to track down the other coloured bulbs, I bet the blue is good, my Husband would love blue coloured wax.
