Loving this lamp Carol, Looks great!!
Its a good first attempt, mabie add some more surf at some point to get more blobs and stringy flow etc
Hey Vox, didn't you post up once that you had a globe with a ton of those occlusions in the glass? Well, this is my problem child also!!! That doesn't help with photography.....It kind of doesn't look too bad with the purple goo though. Paper towel, hummm, good idea, and yes I think Price is flippin the bird here!! lol!!! but a great pic!!
Tim, you would have loved my last video with the 60 watt'er in the lamp. OMG it was going crazy!! I was getting strings, columns, snakes, balls, you name it, but then it started to get hot and when I pulled the bulb it had that smell. You know, not like burning, but that smell that you know it's HOT!! Can't get out right now to get a dimmer, so I put the 40 watt clear back in. Now it's a bit slower, so I think I'm going to go with a frosted 60 with a dimmer when I get a chance to get out. I read on here somewhere that someone believed that the flow had a lot to do with the temp of the bulb and not so much with the surf. I don't know, but I don't when I switched to a higher wattage I did get some awesome flow. I'll post up another video after a few runs and with a 60 and a dimmer when I grab one. It looks pretty decent...
Thanks Keith, now I want to do more.......!!!!!
Flow is Awesome !
How did you get the 'color' ?
I'm not color blind, but I don't know how to make a certain color.
Yep Vox, looks like my purple!!! You just can't see my flecks as bad because I use my iphone with the flash and it doesn't pick them up as bad. That's another reason why I kept the flash on in the flow video, lol!! If I take a shot of it in the dark, it looks like the heavens on a stary nite!!! This wasn't thrift shop either, it was Spencer's....oh well, same thing.....oops, did I say that??
Todd, I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say beginner's luck with the color. I read a lot about coloring and decided to add it once the goo was flowing. I just put a little bit in and watched as the lava filled up with color. There is a video of it happening in my videos The only problem I did have with that is that there was one little bubble up at the top that wouldnt pick up any of the dye so I kind of had to put a crumb on a toothpick and kind of aim it directly into that little sphere. I ordered the violet dye with my goo kit. Because it was my very first attempt at goo kitting, I wasn't about to start color blending. I also redid a 20 oz globe, but with this one I added the red dye directly to the wax when I was melting it in the pot. I wanted to see if there was a difference. The problem adding it before the lava is flowing is I really didn't know what color I was going to end up with, BUT, I did get a better coverage as far as all of the wax was concerned. So it's a crap shoot, but I think if I do another, I will color when the lava is in full flow.
