Very nice, these could be adapted to work on AC with a proper power brick, a little drilling and proper electronics. But you'd want someone with professional "know how" to do it to make sure nothing is damaged at all since these are important heirlooms from your grandmother. I'd just stick with rechargeable batteries for now.

Vox, go to "Smash Gifts," they have them, they're new, but very nice and made by the same company.  Look at the left of the page on their site and click "Shimmer Lights."    The name of the company doesn't instill confidence, but I got one in 2 days in perfect conditions, very well packaged.

Thanks for the cravin, Brad.  I've been enjoying my "several" for nearly a week.  They're lovely on the mantle at night.

Meant to add, dug out the Christmas decorations and had forgot about a glitter snowman that my mom had given me last year after the season. It is similar to these, round globe filled with glitter that twisters up with a magnet impeller. Will get a picture of it up soon.
