That lamp is dancin' in the Moonlight!
Fer sure!!! Hey Vox, that little bit of condensate, wax, whatever it was has gotten less. It's hard to tell what's what because the lamp is so clear now I'm getting a lot of reflections on the glass. I don't know if it's a reflection or what sometimes......between them and the stars!! lol, but at least it's clear now and flowing great!! No more fog. Ya know when I dumped everything out of the old globe there was a lot of white oily stuff on the inside of the globe. It doesn't feel like wax either. It feels like oil. I'm wondering if running those gookits like 15 hours or more a day and them getting really hot, especially on their first few runs caused some of the oils from the goo to leach into the liquid then onto the inside of the globe. Similar to like when you overheat the LL china lamps and the fluid starts to turn funky. I know some members say they run their goo kits 24/7, but I'm wondering if the newer goo that is around now is not adaptable to that. OR, I'm not diligent enough with using my dimmer and the overheat is causing this. I don't know, but I have a weird feeling after seeing what stuck on the side of the original globe that my violet kit was in that it isn't condensation. First off, if I poured violet melted lava out of a globe, if any wax stuck to the sides it would be violet!!! This is whiteish and it's a filmy oily substance. It's also not just down one side where one would pour wax out, but all over. If I stick my finger in at the top it comes right off like an oil. Whatever it is it's heavier then water because it adheres to the globe making me think it's from the goo. Since I'm back to work I'm not running my lamps as much because I'm not home all day so we will see how the fluid change holds up now. My son's is bad Vox. I have to clean that one up Monday when my kit comes. The Blue one. I'm going to add a bit more goo because I ran out and only did about 180 grams in his lamp when it should be 225. I compensated with a tad less water. Now MT goo says the bubbles in the wax come from running the lamp at a high temp, I'm wondering if this white oily film also has something to do with that as well.......hummm.....
Erin, I'm having a problem with some white (what I thought was condensate) on the inside of my kit globes weeks after doing them, so I had to redo my violet. In talking to Chad I think what I thought was condensate is the oily residue from the wax. I think I cooked them too long for too hot!!! I just enjoy them so much I want to run them 24/7 and I end up messing them all up again, lol!!! Good luck on your fluid change, vids and pics pleeeseeee!!!!
Yea, I wish I knew what to say on the residues front. I still have yet to pop open a globe since all of my troublemakers have some sort of sixth sense in that they shape up the second they hear me start talking about magnets or can openers.
Oh, I'll be posting... if it works. :)
THAT's what lamps SHOULD look like!!! For at least 20 years!! Too bad we have to buy aftermarket wax to fix these things!!!
Right Keith!!! I just finished another kit and am waiting for flow. Guess I'm not going to bed unil the wee hours of the morn!!! Now if I COULD just keep them from fogging up!!1 lol!!! This new lamp I did a really through acetone rinse on it and there is a difference in clarity, so maybe this one will stay this way. Gonna seal er up good too!!!
How's that capper working out sorry, had to bring it up.
oh god!!!! you don't even wanna know the bob job I did trying to tighten down that cap, lol!!!!
