My New Mathmos Lamp - Anyone I.D?

Hey everyone.

Well today started off pretty crappy, I forgot to pay some cash into the bank on Friday so had to make a dash to town to pay it in today.
It got worse when the rain started to poor :(

But while I was in town I noticed a cash exchange had opend, so I had a nosey in and found desperate housewives season 2! YAY I had been wanting this!

As I went to pay I noticed a purple lava lamp behind the counter and I said to the guy that it looked cool, His response was "Oh you like it, ya can have it for £3.50"

So I decided to buy it anyway, On the way home I noticed it had Mathmos written in silver on the base.

It's one of these but different

The base and cap are purple and the water is clear with a reallllly nice purple wax.

Anyone know what it is? or is it a fake?

Yes thats the same!
They are lovely aren't they.

I'm quite worried about switching it on just yet.
As it was flowing LOVELY in the store and then it got taken away before it even cooled down.

Should I do anything special?

I was Uber careful with the lamp.
It didn't get shaken at all.


Richard do you have MSN it would be great to chat to you about Mathmos lamps as I have afew lamps I need help with.

yes this is a mathmos jet i have about 10 of these violet/red is the best, i would leave it to cool is the best thing, don't put it near direct sunlight this would fade the lamp. don't run it for more than 6 hours a day, but you got a bargain at £3.50. i got a sony vaio jet that cost me £40.00. Mathmos are the best and if you care about them look after them hope this helps john

well I may of done but it has a blue painted bottom of the bottle it looks very cool when truned on, yes I paid abit more than i wanted but it's inn good condition.

Well I wanted abit of extra info on these so I emailed Mathmos and have been informed they are called Day Glow Jets and were a special edition that ran along side the Black Jets until 2006 when they were discontinued.
