Oozing Goo - The Lava Lamp Syndicate

I see a number of people here who have numerous lamps, and I know that Ebay is a friggin fortune. I just bought my 3rd lamp from Craigslist for 5 dollars. It's an older lamp from the mid 1970s and it works great. So where do you get your lamps from at an affordable price, and I'm talking about the claassic lamps?

Well, all the lamp prices seem to be going up, but I have bought the majority of mine on ebay. I also enjoy finding cheap deals at flea markets, but you can not expect to find the classic rare lava lamps there. I watch a lot of ebay auctions and only bid at the last minute and when I think it is a deal. Usually, though, others have already started running the price up!

BTW, welcome to the Goo!
Well, thank you so much. I am certainly eager to learn more about these lamps and will likely be spending all my spare money on them on e bay! I do employ bid sniper, but You still are gonna pay for the rare and delux lamps! I like vintage Marantz audio gear from the 1960s. Here again, on e bay, you'll pay the maximum plus 20 percent. What do you do? Sort of sucks. Delighted about my $5 find. Will post pictures tuesday.
Thrift stores, flea markets, yard sales. I just picked up a century lamp for $10.00 at a thrift store. I have between 30 and 40 lamps now (I think). Only two were bought new. And all were under $20.00 except one of the new ones, it was $49.95 in 1991.
And craigslist. I found 6 32oz globe for $30.00 last year.
Yes there are still bargains to be found. I picked up a 1970's Crestworth Telstar for 2 pounds last year and a couple of months ago, my friend Paul picked up a Mathmos Glitterball for a measely 1 pound. Both these lamps normally go for at least 30 pounds on Ebay or other internet auction sites.
Awesome! I will be posting pictures of the Lava Lamp I'm buying today for $5. He says she's an older lamp and the guy, whom I have met before, is in his late 70s early 80s. We'll see. Could be a pile of crap! I hope not though. Wish me luck!
