I haven't had a lava lamp in about 10 years and my last one was a starship Lava Lite made in the 90s.
I bought a new 52oz Lava Lite from Lamps Plus and I received it today. It is cloudy and the flow is just pathetic. The goo is very poor quality. To no surprise Made in China.
I am wondering what are your recommendations for a lava lamp brand that flows well, is not cloudy, and is a decent price.
Connor, There are tons of lamps out there that are pre-china that flow like a dream! The lava lite brand but with the original screen printed bottle caps (Chinese type have the white and red sticker) are still a nice lamp to own. You just have to know where to look! I just found five this past weekend at yard sales. I also snagged one from a good will store a month or so ago. This time of year is particularly good because kids are home from school and they get rid of the stuff they hauled back from school that sat in the dorm room all year. You can also try ebay but make sure your seller is familiar with shipping lava lamps. There is a guy on there right now who basically specializes in the selling of older lamps. Alas, the ones available at Spencers as well as Amazon are hot-or-miss when it comes to the criteria that makes a good lamp. You can also take a crack at filtering the fluid of the one you have now. The folks at this site are top notch and have all gone through the frustration you are having right now! Scott
