Cloudy lamps; New cure

I have a cloudy US 32 oz globe from 2003. I have tried 2 hour cycles and 6 hour cycles, no quick significant change. I started running the globe all day from 8am to 11 pm. It is looking much better in just three days. It doesn't overheat and if it looks like it does i turn it off for a while and then turn it back on. Why is this treatment working and has anyone else done this?

2 hours on, 4 hours off  4x a day worked for me in the worst of conditions.

I did a transfusion from one globe to another.

The wax rubbed on the glass. Once it melted, it was so cloudy that you could barely see through the globe. 

After about a month it was crystal clear. 

The point is, it has to flow, then be cool. My home is always a cool 60-65 degrees, So I think that worked to my advantage.

Why do they have to sit because im doing it every day and it is like speed. Also how can you tell the difference between dye leak and shaking?

I have used a dimmer on the globe and let it run for 8 hours then lower the dimmer down somewhat and let it run all night. Then the next day turn it off and have it sit for about a week. Your cloudiness is not that bad. 

As for dye leakage, the water will be colored, not hazy clear/whitish. 

Think fog vs tint.

How can you tell what lamp? And yes it's the wizard (now in a midnight base). Is my routine okay, or should i go with bohdan's because this seems to be working very quickly.

I would say give it 2-3 weeks, maybe a month and a half.

I know my procedure took about 6 weeks, but it eventually worked.

Ok that will do. I whole week break for my lamp! He will get lazy!

Agreed, big time. I always mention to put it in a cool corner of the house.

To clear my lamps I run mine in the winter for 3 hours a day then 24 off, they cleared in a week, my house is at 64 degrees.  In the summer it's a whole different story.

Anyone know what works for Mathmos globes? Thanks.

Thanks Bohdan, I thought that was the case, I've never been able to clear a Mathmos bottle without actually changing the liquid. Thought it was worth checking to see if anyone had another way.

That may work for the 53oz globes, but what about the 250oz Grande's?

It takes 2 hours just to melt the lava!?
