As many of you know lava lite promised to improve the quality of their lamps. The new lamps should have started rolling out in November. Has anyone bought a lamp recently?
I got a grande that was from the "fixed" batch of lamps. It arrived very cloudy but quickly cleared up after a few days. It is still a little cloudy but it looks like it will clear up in time. The wax does not have the urinal cake look to it and it also doesnt overheat nearly as fast as the old grandes. I have talked to a few others who also got the "fixed" grandes and theirs are not doing as good as mine is.
Another thing I thought I would share is I was at Kmart yesterday and I opened some lamp tubes. Every lamp I pulled was crystal clear, even the black wax lamps were clear. None of these lamps had a hint of cloudyness, sadly they were all 8oz and 20oz lamps. The date on the lamps was November 10th. I did not buy any so I dont know how they flow but it looks promising.
I did leave with one lava brand product that I am really happy with.

they should have a transparent line up that would rule and bring up sales from me
I've seen a TIKI base lava lamp at a local bar that has transparent red lava in it, and it has run for many years and stayed transparent.Don't know what brand it is, but I can look closer next time.

All of my hotrocks run with transparent lava. I have a blue/yellow, purple/red and a faded purple/red thats clear/red and they all run transparent. I also have two pyramids and they both run with transparent lava. The hotter the wax gets the clearer it becomes. I have seen a few peace lamps running at stores that run clear, it seems to be a common property of china made lamps when the transparency lasts forever.

The Hot Rocks did have a few of there clear/red as see thru wax lamps. And yes after years of running they remained so.
I miss the Hot Rocks lava lamp they came in 23 different colors many years ago. They had nice colors like clear-green or clear-purple.
We may even see a 52z from LL in clear-blue this year.
Ok, cool. I'll have to start checking.
Thank you
I have seen and heard enough.
The short answer to your question is NO!
They are making them as cheaply as they can and suffering a high rate of returns as a result.
Now they are putting letters in the box saying the cloudyness is a temporary condition caused by shipping
and to just let it run 10 hours a day for 3 to 5 days.
They also maintain that they have not changed or modified their formula.
Both these statements are total BS.
P.S. Until it can be proven that they have cleaned up their act, and I start reading 100% good reviews,
I will NEVER buy another lamp made by LavaLite.
You should not have a problem finding one on Fleabay as this is a popular color combo. :)
You dont want to take a chance on a new cheap one, trust me, you may get lucky and receive
a nice clear one, but 9 chances out of 10, it will be cloudy.
You dont want that frustration factor ;)
If you live in the US, see if you can find a Spencer's Gifts store. That way you can SEE before you buy :)
That, or one off Fleabay made in the 90's is your best bet.
