I was wondering where the glasshead group went? Did bohdan delete it?

He must have, because the current mods would not have done that. We can create a new one or you can.

Let me know how you would like to proceed.

No big deal. Simon was wondering how I made my glasshead. I will try to find the directions.

Yep - after the summer holidays I'm going to have a go at making my own Glasshead!

(& join the club) - thanks Chow for the help so far ;o)

First thing is to pick up a glass head from ebay.

Chow - what coloured glass heads have you used & what are your comments?

I wanted to make one, too. So, if anyone can write-up a tutorial, we'll feature it and make sure it sticks around this time. ;)

I got my glass head at Pier 1 for $20. It's the standard green/clear one.

Your lava (glitter) head is awesome!
Go with the clear head. I have a black colored one and no light shines though it, LOL. I haven’t tried a blue but it's lighter than the black. I wouldn't use the colored ones myself because I would figure you would want to watch it move without having to see thought the color. I think the glass head does have a green hue to it. Like a coke bottle.

I had all the supplies ready before I even looked for something to fill it with.

I posted a few pictures later to get you started.

Thank you Alpha.
is the glass on one of these heads strong enough to take hot tempretures on close inspection of my head the thickness of the glass varries a lot and is quite thin on the nose part

I couldn't find the glasshead group either, so I just created a new group for this project.

I flipped my head over and placed it on a grande base with the 100 watt bulb to test out where my levels were. I ended up using a 60 watt bulb on the glitter.

I think most of the heat will be at the base of the head. Using a tempered ashtray or a candle holder will work. I have these two frosted candle holder bases but haven't tested them yet. I did remember something about a pyrex lid that could work also.
