Hello, Everyone.  My name is John.  I'm kind of new here to the board but have been collecting lava lamps for many years now.  I have about 25 lamps in my collection, all vintage lava lite brand.  I'm looking to get one of the new Mathmos Smart Astros which will be shipping out end of October.  Problem is, I live in Canada.  Is there anybody in the UK who would be willing to ship it to me here in Canada if I pay for it and have it sent to your UK address?  I would then pay actual shipping charges to get it from the UK to Canada.  For obvious reasons, I prefer to deal with a board member who has a good reputation with the community.  Please let me know if you'd be willing to help and thanks a lot.  John

What was the problem?  Do you know?  And why do you think they wouldn't have fixed the problem and this, the second generation?

Hey, all.  My new Smart Astro has shipped and is set to arrive this week. I'm wondering, will a simple US to UK plug adapter work or will I need a power converter to operate this lamp here in Canada?  Are there any US/Canadian residents ( US/Canadian electrical requirements are the same) who own a Smart Astro with UK wiring that can answer this question? Thanks much!

Its basically the life of the LED's - they only have a certain amount of hours which they can be run for.

The next 10 years or so will certainty bring a lot of change to the lava lamps which we are familiar to now.

But i dont think that a Smart Astro can reach a lifetime of 10 years with weekly use. For a normal Astro this is no problem.

But in 10 years i think we will not be able to buy normal Lightbulbs anyway ;)
