Is 170$ a fair price for a coachlite lantern lava lamp in original Box?

Depends on which one, There are 3 styles. 

Brass, Brass & Copper, Copper. 

From what I remember, The all copper ones ranged from 160 to 250.

Brass with Copper tubes ranged from $50 to $80. But I've never seen the pricing on one with a box.

It's 3rd generation, no fill cap.  That lamp has been there for quite a while, he did bring down the price at one point but only for a day. Then it went back up again.

Depends on how much the box is worth for you, since I joined around Oct I have seen 3 or 4 maybe 5 of the 3rd gen Coachlites on ebay, but without the boxes, usually they sell for around 60 to 70.  I personally would not pay that much, but it is a matter of worth to you

Kinda steep for the most common one, if it was the all copper version it would be worth it.
