Oozing Goo - The Lava Lamp Syndicate

"Laff-Lite" - there are two styles known. Ad from 1969 wholesale catalog attached. Takes four(?) random-blink C-7 bulbs and has a patterned cylinder they shine through onto the outer shade. 2nd one I've ever seen, both of this style/model.

Cool! I couldn't help myself... I've always kinda wanted a lamp like this. :)

Jonas, can you attach the ad you have?

Good luck finding those bulbs!  I believe you want the GE D26 Twinkle bulbs.  A truly funky, funky bulb in its own right.

Oh and I protest how you used your insider information to acquire this lamp.  Completely unfair.  You should ship Jonas a lamp for his efforts.

Ummmm, I think Jonas mentioned C7 bulbs, so yours pretty much suck and are worthless.  If you don't know how to operate your lamp, please send it to someone that does.  :-P

I just forewarn you that not all bulbs are created equal.  There are some D26 on eBay right now, but they are pricey.  As I said, a very funky bulb.  It makes an audible pop when it blinks.  I have the lamp that I linked to below, as does Clay - Clay knows these bulbs are tricky to find.

This lamp calls for them as well - http://oozinggoo.ning.com/photo/1970s-acrylic-bubble-ball-lamp

Ah, C7 indeed. Oops. Plenty of time to research while I await this lamp. :)

And it is a very cool lamp.  :-)  I stocked up for the long haul on the D26 bulbs and have about seven sets now.

I do believe that little acrylic sphere takes a total of 4 bulbs as well - 3 twinklers and one standard non-blinking clear bulb.  I Christmas tree covered in D26 bulbs would induce seizures.

Oh, I like that idea. Seizure-inducing x-mas tree.

I've done my research on these bulbs since I got into bubble lights last year. Replacement bulbs and how-tos for replacing them for bubble lamps was too much of a pain for me. I'll send THOSE to Jonas for a finder's fee. ;)

That last link you posted, Erin, is indeed exactly what you need. And the older ones DO pop (very quietly) when they blink, as there's a metal element inside that bends and breaks contact when heated. A pink, blue, green, and yellow (I suggest pink instead of red for the 60s look).

Here's the ad. Bad photo is all I've got. Someone told me these Laff-Lites ARE Florence Art, but for all I know, they just happen to be next to them in the image.

They are cool. I just won this one on Ebay....

Ha! Looks like I overpaid! Congrats Wooze!
