Just buy some lava world china lamps, dump the contence and use the globe, base, coil etc to make a gookit lamp.
You will need some dimmers but they can easley be found on ebay, amazon etc.

Great lamps in here. I especially like the Pink Floyd lamp. Is that hand painted??
So, if i wanted to make my own lamps i was wondering where i could get bases and caps from?? Is there any source for new, plain lava lamp bases or do i have to scour ebay to find used ones???
Thanks. I guess that's an option.

You could also ask around hear for spares and stuff which people have lying around.
My first goo kit, using the Carlisle base from the Salvation Army and a Carlisle bottle found the collection of bottles from Scott. The bottle is a little dirty on the outside with fingerprints.
I tried going for a teal color. It dried a dark green, and when I began to test it, the wax melted with a red center. The red then became an overlay over the teal. You can still see the teal obviously, but it's almost as if someone is taking an infrared laser pointed and shining it through. It looks cool, but I wasn't expected that since no red dye was used...only blue and green. The picture doesn't it do it justice. The red is really quite clear and transparent, while the teal is opaque. Anyone know what happened?
Mine does this too with the teal. Its even worse in a grande lamp but its kind of cool looking in a way. I think it's the because the wax runs with a little transparency to it and the bulb's yellow color makes it red in the center. Reminds me a lot of Mathmos magic wax, but not really what you were hoping to get right? I agree with you here. I would like a more solid color teal.
What is the mathmos magic wax.
Allthough it dident trun out as expecting it looks nice.
its was astrobaby bottle and when cold it was one color and when running it was a different color. I dont recall the colors exactly but it does exist.
Here's a few more I did today.
Flourescent Green with Neon Green dye 32oz. Used one of the bases and caps from Autumn.
Two Hot Rocks regooed.
The one on the left was supposed to be like chocolate, definitely dries like chocolate, but is a very deep red transparent when melted. The one on the right is strictly aqua.
The real Carlyle (on left) with my fake Carlyle on right. First is with flash, second without.
I love all of the Goo colors but I wish they'd sell that amazing gold prototype that they have as an icon. That would be some grande!
