My first review can be found here: https://oozinggoo.ning.com/forum/topics/aurasglow-candle-powered-lav-1
I purchased my first AurasGlow candle lamp almost a year go. I've been very happy with it.
To the best of my knowledge, the formula hasn't changed, just the bases. The creator, Ravi, previewed some bases on his Facebook page and some users weighed in on what base design they liked best. These bases are very different from the metal bases they have been selling previously. Though I do very much like they look of them, and they're very sturdy, if you remove the bottle from the base, it tips over. There won't be much occasion to do this, but I found it a little frustrating. The bases are a thick, clear plastic (resin?).
AurasGlow lava lamps are not solid wax. Even when cold, both substances in the globe are liquid. If you accidentally bump your lamp or drop it, do not fear, all contents will go back to normal. In dealing with some stuck wax, I twisted the bottle around quite a bit and even shook it gently, creating lava soup. But by the next morning, all was well again.
Packaging and boxing are great. Nice new box design and color insert (will show later).
The first day I received the lamps, they were hazy. I'd experienced this with my last lamp. These lamps were shipped to me in 90+ degree weather.
By the next day, they had cleared. Completely:

Very cool idea. I have three of them with the old metal base. The glass tea lite holder would not fit in base, I had to use tin snips to open a side to allow the glass to sit in the metal cup on the bottom. I put the slit towards the back so you can't see it from the front. The down side to these I found is that they need a contrasting wall next to them like you have in the picture. I placed mine on the dining room table and the lava kinda gets lost in all the other things going on in the room. If they had more light under them like a lava lamp you might see them better. I am happy with them. It's a cool concept and I didn't have any, so why not.
Good review Erin. Nice pics and very pretty colors. Mine is the old base, molten gold color. I have it sitting on my dining room table and is nice to look at even when it's unlit.
Yes, on the old metal bases, that glass candle holder sits in there kind-of precariously. I've never had an issue with it though. On the new bases, the little glass tealight holder fits in a round opening in the bottom of the plastic base.
And yes, they do need something light or contrasting behind them in order to enjoy fully.
I love mine. :)
It is certainty something on my lava wish list - at times I do think they are supiour to the Fireflow as they flow like a large lamp.
As for the bases both the bases are as good as each other in different ways - the plastic looks a lot more modern and open and this lets you appreacate the lava, where as the mettle is closed in but it looks really nice. In this respect I don't think one is better then the other as long as the quality of the plastic is good and its not affected by heat, is robust and safe etc.
In my opinion, the new acrylic stand looks too blah and no cap covering this time. Perhaps they found it cheaper to re-design them in plastic like this? For me, I prefer the first generation of AurasGlows with the metal stands with the scrolled legs and metal cap with holes in it.
The longer I look at them, I prefer the 1st gen stand, too.
I agree totally.

It looks unfinished.....IMaybe they can use my lamp shade idea. 3 bucks from Ikea.
