Oozing Goo - The Lava Lamp Syndicate

Anyone know how hot exactly  lava lamp can get when running for a while? I had an idea to use pearl swirl in water to make a glitter type lamp. the pearl swirl will flow with the convection currents but I want to know how hot to expect the globe to get.

150 degrees or so

It depends on the bulb wattage also.  A lower wattage bulb won't get as hot as a higher wattage bulb.
